This official digital memorial was commissioned by the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, Government of Barbados, to honour The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers, NH, AO, OCC.
It brings together key moments from Sir Garry's life and career and provides a place for Barbadians, people across the Caribbean and visitors around the world to share memories and reflections.
Stewardship
The memorial is maintained on behalf of the Government of Barbados. Historical information is informed by Government records and recognised cricket authorities.
How the memorial is managed
Historical content, public tributes and media are managed separately. Website changes are prepared as private drafts and require a deliberate publishing decision by an authorised administrator.
How public tributes are reviewed
Every submitted tribute is reviewed by a person. Automated checks may flag material that needs closer attention, but they do not publish, reject or hide a tribute. Submitted photos are reviewed separately for permission to publish and for an appropriate description for people using screen readers.
Acknowledgements
The Government of Barbados acknowledges the institutions, historians, archivists and members of the public whose records and memories help to preserve Sir Garry's legacy.
