The Right ExcellentSir Garfield Sobers

How we handle your information.

This digital memorial was commissioned by the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, Government of Barbados. Personal information submitted through the memorial is handled by the authorised memorial team on behalf of the Government of Barbados.

Information we collect

When you share a tribute, we ask for your name, email address, location or country, your relationship to Sir Garry, your tribute and, if you choose, a photo. We also use limited technical information, including a protected version of your internet address, to help prevent misuse of the service.

How we use it

We use your information to receive and review your tribute, contact you about your submission when necessary, publish approved material and protect the memorial from misuse.

Automated checks and human review

Rule-based automated checks may flag content that may include personal information, spam, links, abusive or misleading language, unusual submission activity or unclear photo rights. A flag supports review by an authorised person; it does not automatically publish, reject or hide a tribute.

What may be published

If your tribute is approved, your name, location, tribute, relationship to Sir Garry and any separately approved photo may be published. Your email address and security information will never be displayed publicly.

Who can access it

Submissions may be accessed by authorised memorial administrators and service providers who support the secure operation of the website. An anti-spam provider may receive limited technical information needed to verify a submission. Service providers may use information only for those purposes.

Administrative records and exports

The restricted administration area records sign-ins, review decisions, website and media changes, access changes and data exports. Authorised administrators can export tribute and activity records for official memorial work. These records and exports may contain personal information and must be protected.

Cookies and device preferences

The public memorial saves your motion preference in your browser. The restricted administration area uses a necessary sign-in cookie and saves the selected theme on the device. These features support accessibility and security and are not used for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep submissions only for as long as needed to operate and preserve the memorial, meet public-record responsibilities, resolve enquiries and protect the service.

Your choices

You may ask about the personal information connected with your submission or request a correction or removal. Contact the memorial team with your name and enough detail to identify the submission. psmist@barbados.gov.bb.

Privacy law

Personal information is handled in accordance with applicable laws of Barbados, including the Data Protection Act, 2019-29.
